FIFA Probes Transport, Ticketing Systems after 8,000 No-shows at South Korea-Greece Match

FIFA has been investigating the transportation and ticketing avenues to try to account for the thousands of fans missing from the South African stadiums for some of the World Cup games, according to an article written in the Washington Examiner. The South Korea v. Greece and Algeria v. Slovenia matches were particularly under-attended, with upwards of 8,000 no shows, approximately one-third of the stadium capacity. FIFA has tried to boost ticket sales to less-attractive World Cup games internationally by cutting ticket prices and providing transportation to South Africans who have purchased tickets to events.
